RULES & REGULATIONS OF THE SARAWAK ENERGY ISTHMUS RUN 2025
-
The Sarawak Energy Isthmus Run 2025 (“the Event”) is a premier annual running event proudly
organised and owned by Sarawak Energy Berhad (the “Organiser”). The Event is held in
conjunction with the Kuching City Day celebrations and is scheduled to take place on 10
August 2025 (the “Race Day”). For the purposes of these Rules & Regulations, the term
“Organiser” shall include all authorised officials, employees, contractors, agents, service
providers, and volunteers acting on behalf of Sarawk Energy Berhad.

The Event is managed and supported by Evendura Enterprise (the “Event Management
Company”) in accordance with these Rules and Regulations, applicable terms and conditions.

By registering for the Event and providing any information (personal or otherwise), participants
(the “Participants”) is deemed to have given explicit consent to the Organiser, the Event
Management Company, the event sponsors (the “Sponsors”) to:

3.1 collect, analyse, collate, share, disclose to third parties, and/or otherwise use
Participants’ personal information without any liability, for purposes including but not
limited to event planning, data processing, statistical or risk analysis, research,
fundraising, marketing and/or any other purposes aligned with objectives of the Event.
This may involve third-party service providers.

3.2 use and retain photographs, motion pictures, video footage, audio recordings, or other
media captured during the Event, including those featuring Participants, for legitimate
purposes, including but not limited to promotional activities, commercial advertising
and distribution to Sponsors worldwide.

By completing the Event registration, Participants confirm their acceptance of and agreement
to abide by these Rules and Regulations, along with any additional terms and conditions
communicated by the Organiser.

Any individual regardless of nationality whose age meets the minimum age requirement on the
Race Day for each of the following categories is eligible to participate:

5.1 Full Marathon (42.195km) –18 years and above.
-
5.2 Half Marathon (21.0975km) – 16 years and above.
-
5.3 10km Run – 15 years and above.
-
5.4 5km Fun Run – No Age Limit.
-
Participants below the age of 18 years are required to obtain parental/guardian’s consent and
complete the relevant indemnity declaration form as deemed necessary by the Organiser upon
registration, failing which, the Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry to any applicant
under the age of 18.

Veteran Category Eligibility:
-
7.1 To participate in the Veteran Category for the Full Marathon or Half Marathon, a participant must be 45 years old on or before the Race Day.
-
7.2 A Malaysian veteran participant who finishes among the top 15 in either the Open or National Category is eligible to claim a prize in that respective category. For clarity, such a participant is entitled to receive only one prize and its corresponding prize money – specifically, from the category offering the higher cash prize.

7.3 A non-Malaysian veteran participant who finishes among the top 15 in the Open Category is similarly eligible to claim a prize in the Open Category. For clarity, such a participant is entitled to receive only one prize and its corresponding prize money – specifically, from the category offering the higher cash prize.

National Category Eligibility (Full Marathon):
-
8.1 To participate in the National category of the Full Marathon, a participant must be a Malaysian citizen and possess a valid Malaysian Passport and/or Malaysian Identity Card.
-
8.2 An eligible participant in the National Category who also finishes among the top 15 in the Open Category is eligible to claim a prize in Open Category. For clarity, such a participant is entitled to receive only one prize and its corresponding prize money – specifically, from the category offering the higher cash prize.

Registration will only be deemed confirmed upon full payment of the registration fee and the
issuance of an official race identification number.
-
All fees paid are non-refundable and subject to applicable taxes imposed by the Malaysian
government. The Organiser reserves the right to limit, refuse or cancel registrations without
prior notice or the need to provide an explanation.
-
By registering for the Event and using the Official Website, Participants agrees to provide true,
accurate, current and complete information in the registration form. If at any point of time, the
Organiser has reasonable grounds to believe that any information provided is false, inaccurate,
obsolete or incomplete, the Organiser reserves the right to suspend or cancel the participant’s
registration without any refund of the registration fee.

The Organiser shall not be held responsible for any disputes, discrepancies or complaints
arising from incomplete, inaccurate or incorrect information provided the registration form.

Unless otherwise expressly agreed by the Organiser on such condition(s) as the Organiser in
its absolute discretion deems fit, participants are strictly prohibited from transferring their race
entries to another person or changing race categories after registration has been confirmed.
-
The Organiser reserves the right to cancel or postpone the Event at any time without prior
notice to the Participants, in which case the Organiser will make effort to inform the
Participants before the Race Day. If the Event is cancelled or postponed, due to any
unforeseeable, unavoidable or insurmountable incident beyond the control of the Organiser
which renders it impossible or unsafe to hold the Event including but not limited to force
majeure events or public health concerns, no refunds will be provided. The Organiser shall not
be held liable for any direct or indirect loss or inconvenience sustained and incurred or to be
sustained and incurred as a result of or arising out of the cancellation.

The Organiser reserves the right to modify or amend the Event format, race categories or
schedules at any time without prior notice for safety or operational reasons.
-
The Organiser reserves the right to amend the race routes at its sole discretion for the safety of
the Participants or to avoid potential hazards. Every effort will be made to inform the
Participants of such changes prior to the Race Day. The Organiser shall not be liable for any
loss or inconvenience caused due to such amendments.

While every reasonable precaution will be taken by the Organiser to ensure the safety of the
Participants, the Participants take part solely at their own risk. The Organiser, Event
Management Company and the Sponsors shall not be held responsible or held liable for any
injury or death arising from training for the Event and/or participation in the Event. Participants
are strongly encouraged to undergo medical examination and/or consult with their medical
practitioners prior to registration and at any time up to the Race Day to ensure they are
physically and mentally fit to participate in the Event.

Participants must complete the form on the reverse side of their bib number accurately and in
full. The assigned bib number must be worn on the front of the participant’s running vest or tshirt and shall be clearly visible at all times. Participants without a bib number or who fail to
display it visibly will be removed from the race course by the officials or route marshals of the
Event.

Partial road closures for the Full Marathon Route will be lifted after 7 hours from the race start
time (the “cut-off time”). Cut-off times will be set at specific checkpoint(s) along the route
(“Checkpoints’ cut-off times”) and will be strictly enforced to ensure the safety of runners who
are unable to complete the race within the 7 hours and to ensure that the roads can be reopened to the public in accordance with the requirement of the authorities.

Partial road closures for the Half Marathon Route will be lifted after 4 hours from the race start
time (the “cut-off time”). Cut-off times will be set at specific checkpoint(s) along the route
(“Checkpoints’ cut-off times”) and will be strictly enforced to ensure the safety of runners who
are unable to complete the race within the 4 hours and to ensure that the roads can be reopened to the public in accordance with the requirement of the authorities.

Participants who fail to reach specific checkpoints within the designated cut-off times will be
disqualified. Such Participants may be required to board transport arranged by the Organiser
to return to the race site.
-
Participants must immediately retire from the race if instructed to do so by route marshals,
medical personnel, security officers or any officials authorised by the Organiser, including
representatives from Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Sarawak, Jabatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia
(JPAM), Jabatan Bomba & Penyelamat Negeri Sarawak, Malaysian Red Crescent Society, St
John Ambulance Sarawak, Polis Diraja Malaysia, Rela, Persatuan Olahraga Sarawak (SAA), or
the Event Director. Failing to comply may result in disqualification, and the participant’s bib
number will be recorded. Any participant continuing beyond this point does so independently
of the Event and at their own risk.

Pets, bicycles, tricycles, in-line skates, prams, push carts, shoes with built-in or attached
rollers and any other wheel-run objects and any form of support vehicles are strictly prohibited
on the race course, except for official and medical vehicles, unless with prior written
permission has been obtained from the Organiser. The only exception to this rule is for the 5km
Fun Run category, where prams, strollers, and wheelchairs are allowed.

The official starting times (“flag-off time”) for each race category are as follows:

24.1 Full Marathon (42.195km): 1:00 am
-
24.2 Half Marathon (21.0975km): 4:00 am
-
24.3 10km Run: 5:30 am
-
24.4 5km Fun Run: 6:30 am
-
The cut-off times for each race category, which shall be strictly enforced, are as follows:
-
25.1 Full Marathon (42.195km): Seven (7) hours
-
25.2 Half Marathon (21.0975km): Four (4) hours
-
25.3 10km Run: Two (2) hours and thirty (30) minutes
-
25.4 5km Fun Run: One (1) hour and thirty (30) minutes
-
Participants who commence running before the actual flag-off time of his/her registered race
will be disqualified.
-
Participants who do not start the race within 15 minutes of respective flag-offs (Full Marathon,
Half Marathon and 10km) , for safety reasons, may not be allowed to participate and will be
immediately disqualified.
-
The Race Pack Collection will be held prior to the Race Day. The date, time and venue for Race
Pack Collection will be determined by the Organiser and announced on the Official Website
and through official communication channels in due course. Participants are required to
collect their Race Pack in person or appoint a representative with the necessary authorization
documents.

Prizes for winners are as outlined in the official prize structure published on the Official
Website. The Organiser reserves the right to amend, restructure or cancel any prizes, prize
categories, or award structure at any time, without prior notice or obligation to provide reasons.

All race results, rankings and winners shall be determined based on the official “Gun Time” for
all categories, unless otherwise stated by the Organiser.
-
I consent to receiving any medical treatment which deemed necessary and appropriate by the
medical personnel during the Event.

General Rules for all categories:
-
32.1 Only the top 15 finishers in each category for the Full Marathon, Half Marathon and 10km
Run are eligible for the prize money in accordance with the official prize structure
published on the Official Website. For clarity, each winning participant is entitled to win
and receive prize money from only one prize category (where applicable) in the category
for which he/she has registered for;

32.2 A Special Edition Top Finisher T-Shirt will be awarded to the top 100 finishers in both the
Full Marathon and Half Marathon. For clarity, the top 100 finishers will be determined
solely based on their official Gun Time, irrespective of their prize category and gender;
-
32.3 Prize winners must report to the designated area or prize giving counter and complete
the potential winner form provided by the Organiser;
-
32.4 Prize money will be transferred to the winners via bank transfer within fourteen (14) to
twenty-one (21) working days or after the Event;
-
32.5 For prize winners or potential prize winners, disputes or appeals must be made on-site
in person, in a written format, with an appeal fee of RM5.00 within 30 minutes of the
results being published on the on-site results notice board. Failure to comply will result
in the Organiser not entertaining any dispute or appeal thereafter;

32.6 The Organiser reserves the right to amend and rectify on-site results after scrutinising any appeals received, to accurately reflect the official rankings and prize winners based on their official Gun Time. All decisions made in relation to these amendments shall be deemed final, and no further disputes or appeals will be entertained after the conclusion of the prize presentation ceremony;

32.7 All prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable, unless stated otherwise by the
Organiser;
-
32.8 All prizes not claimed within the stipulated time frame shall be forfeited, and the
Organiser shall have the absolute discretion to redistribute or dispose of them as they
deem fit;
-
32.9 For all other Participants (non-prize winners), disputes and appeals regarding the results
must be submitted in writing, including via electronic mail within 3 days after Race Day
(with Race Day counted as Day 1). The Organiser reserves the right not to entertain any
dispute or appeal after this period;
-
32.10 Only Participants who have physically participated and successfully completed the race
within respective category’s cut-off time will be awarded a finisher’s medal upon
presentation of their bib number and timing result slip printed by official timing
system(where applicable) to the respective officials for verification. Participants who did
not start, finish or complete the race within the cut-off time will not be entitled to a
finisher’s medal;

32.11 Only Participants who have physically participated and successfully completed the Full
Marathon or Half Marathon within their respective category’s cut-off time will be
awarded an exclusive Finisher T-Shirt upon presentation of their bib number and timing
result slip printed by official timing system (where applicable) to the respective officials
for verification. Finisher T-Shirt sizes are subject to availability on a first come, first
served basis. Participants who did not start, finish or complete the Full Marathon or Half
Marathon within the cut-off time will not be entitled to an exclusive Finisher T-Shirt;

32.12 All finisher medals and finisher T-shirts (for Full Marathon and Half Marathon only) must
be collected immediately after crossing the finish line, subject to verification of bib
number and timing result slip (where applicable). No requests will be entertained
thereafter;

32.13 All finishers who have successfully completed the race within respective category’s cutoff time will receive a certificate of participation, which can be downloaded online within
two weeks after the Event;
-
32.14 Payment of the registration fee does not automatically entitle Participants to a finisher’s
medal, finisher T-shirt (for Full Marathon and Half Marathon only), or a certificate of
participation. Entitlement to these items is subject to the Rules and Regulations stated
herein;

32.15 The Organiser shall not be responsible for any loss and/or damage to the belongings,
vehicles or items deposited at the Drop Zone counter. Participants are advised to leave
valuables at home and bring as little as possible on the Race Day. Bags are checked in at
owner’s risk, and the Organiser reserves the right to check any item or bag deposited for
security purposes.

The timing chip provided is a single-use, disposable item. Proper placement of the timing chip
is extremely important to ensure accurate race timing. The timing chips have an average read
success rate of 99% during most races. While every care is taken to ensure the timing chip is in
working order when issued to the Participants, the Organiser shall not be held liable in the rare
event that a timing chip fails to register a successful reading after the race. No refund or
compensation will be provided to the affected participant(s) in the event of an unsuccessful
timing chip read.

The Organiser reserves the right to add, modify or substitute any of the above Rules and
Regulations of the Event at any time, without prior notice, as they deem fit. In the event of any
ambiguity or uncertainty in the interpretation of the provisions herein, the Organiser shall be
the sole authority with absolute, final and complete power to interpret it as they deem fit. It is
the responsibility of the Participants to keep abreast with any changes.

By participating in the Event, I confirm that I have read, understood and agreed to comply with
all the Rules & Regulations stipulated, including any other rules, announcements and
timelines as may be varied from time to time.
WAIVER CLAUSE:
In consideration of the acceptance of my participation in the Event, I, my executors, administrators,
heirs, next of kin, successors and assigns, do hereby unconditionally and irrevocably waive, release
and discharge the Organiser, Event Management Company, Event Sponsors and partners, as well as
all persons, servants, contractors, agents, service providers, volunteers and agencies connected
with the Event from all complains, demands, claims, liabilities, proceedings, suits, losses and/or
damages of any kind whatsoever. This waiver applies to any matter arising directly or indirectly from
my participation in the Event, including without but not limited to personal injury, property damage
and/or death, regardless of cause.
